Rachel Pastan: Biography

Rachel Pastan grew up in suburban Maryland and attended Harvard College and the University of Iowa Writers Workshop. She has published short stories in numerous magazines, including The Georgia Review, The Threepenny Review, and Mademoiselle, and won various prizes for her short fiction. She is on the Core Faculty of the Bennington Writing Seminars and teaches fiction writing at Swarthmore College.

Pastan is married to the stellar astronomer, David Cohen, and is the daughter of the poet Linda Pastan. She is also Editor-at-Large at the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) in Philadelphia, where she writes the weekly blog Miranda.
