UTILITY SHUTDOWNS:
- There will be an electrical shutdown on Friday, 11/23,
beginning at 7:00 a.m. Cornell
and Martin are expected to be affected for two hours.
Dupont and Beardsley will be affected for approximately 12
hours. Ralph Thayer advised the
College community of this work last week.
- There will be a major electrical shutdown over the holiday
break between Christmas and New Years Day.
The College is working with Riteway to schedule this work. Facilities will notify
faculty, staff and students.
WORK AREAS:
Dupont Research Annex
- Temporary partitions will be installed along the exterior
walls of Rooms 240 and 242 over the next few weeks. Construction
in Room 240 will begin Monday 11/26.
Dupont Physics Wing
- The temporary platform at the connector to Cornell will be
removed during the afternoon of Tuesday, 11/20 and replaced with a
more permanent structure on Wednesday, 11/21.
The inside stairs that go to the lower level will be closed
during that time. Access
to the lower level of Dupont is available from other parts of the
Building.
Rugby Field
- The existing road alongside the Research Annex has been
demolished and the installation of underground utilities is
complete. Curbs have been placed and the road will be paved with a
base course of asphalt beginning Friday, 11/16.
· Stockpiling of topsoil and fill is complete.
Modifications to the swale will occur within the next week.
Additional fill material has being stockpiled alongside the
topsoil for use as backfill against the Science Center
foundations.
North Quad
- Note the pathways marked with signs and arrows painted on the
ground that lead from Beardsley around to the north entrance to
Dupont.
Cornell Library
- The temporary platform at the connector to Dupont will be
removed during the afternoon of Wednesday, 11/21 and replaced on
Friday, 11/23 with a more permanent structure.
Access to the Library will be available from the path on grade
between Martin and Cornell.
PEDESTRIAN / VEHICULAR ACCESS:
- The new service drive alongside the Research Annex is expected
to be paved and re-opened to traffic next week so that connection
of the underground utilities from the drive to the new manhole can
be completed.
- On or around Friday, 11/30 the service drive will be closed
for one day from the Dupont Visitors Lot back to Lang Music
and Lang PAC. Facilities is working with the
users in Cornell, Martin, Lang Music and Lang PAC to determine the
best date for this work. A
notice to the College community about the prohibition of parking
along the service drive for that day will follow.
- Parking along Whittier Place is prohibited during the hours of
7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
- Electrical work inside the manhole in the Hicks lot is
continuing.
NOISE, VIBRATION, DUST, ODORS
- Removal of the concrete caissons in front of Cornell will
create some noise and vibration in Cornell and possibly Dupont and
Martin.
DELIVERIES / HEAVY EQUIPMENT:
- Paving of the service drive along the rugby lot will require
heavy machinery on site from Friday, 11/16 through Tuesday,
11/20.
