Period 20 June through 4 July
2003
UTILITY SHUTDOWNS:
- The temporary steam feed to the existing Dupont Building has
been inactivated. Removal of the piping will start during the
next two weeks.
WORK AREAS:
Cornell Library
- A portion of the roof above the Cornell Library will be
replaced during this period.
Cornell Addition (a.k.a. Biology/ Commons Wing)
- Metal cladding on the Cornell roof will continue during the
next two weeks. The benches on the terrace on the roof of room
L26 will be installed.
Chiller Plant
- Air balancing will be completed during this period.
Chemistry/Astronomy Wing
- Lab casework and fume hood mechanical and electrical
connections will be completed throughout. All wall, ceiling and
floor finishes will be completed throughout. Doors and hardware
are being installed throughout. The air handling units have been
started and air balancing will begin during this period. The
sprinkler and fire alarm systems will be tested in preparation for
the State Occupancy Inspection on July 8th.
Martin Building
- The architectural concrete columns at the bridge will be
completed during this period. Demolition of Room 101 and the Kirby
Lecture Hall will be complete during this period. Demolition of
corridor finishes is started and will continue.
Existing Dupont Research Annex
- Erection of the new stairs will continue through this period.
The two telecom closets will be completed in the next week so
panels can be mounted and wiring can be completed.
Existing Dupont Physics Wing
- Demolition will continue in the Physics wing.
SITEWORK:
- Placement of the bluestone paving in front of the Commons will
continue during this period.
PEDESTRIAN / VEHICULAR ACCESS:
- The service drive along the east face of the Chemistry
Building will be subject to occasional lane restrictions as
material deliveries are off-loaded. A curb cut will be made and a
lay-by lane added for delivery trucks near the east entry.
- Parking along Whittier Place is prohibited during the hours of
7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
- Work on the bridge that will connect Martin Building to the
Cornell Addition is underway and will continue through the end of
August. The path at grade between Martin and Cornell is closed.
Access to Cornell Library is through the new entrance at the
intersection of the Cornell Addition and the Commons. Directional
signs have been posted.
- Demolition work inside Martin Building and Dupont Physics Wing
is underway. There will be dust and noise associated with this
work. Please also be aware of workers traveling through corridors
with trash carts.
NOISE, VIBRATION, DUST, ODORS
- There may be some construction related noise, dust and
vibration during the demolition in Martin Building and throughout
the Dupont Physics Wing.
- Earthmoving operations in the lawn area may produce dust when
the ground dries out.
- There will be some noise from delivery trucks, cranes and saws
throughout this period. These activities may be disruptive to
nearby buildings.
