be completed. The smoke exhaust fan for the Commons will be
delivered and place on the roof.
Cornell Addition (a.k.a. Biology/ Commons Wing)
- Mechanical services are continuing at the lower level and in
the 200-seat Lecture Hall. The laminated wood beams for the
Commons roof were delivered and erected. Framing will continue
over the next two weeks. Installation of the windows for the
Biology wing and 200 seat Lecture Hall will start next week.
Installation of the Commons elevator will start during the next
two weeks. The granite and schist veneers will continue on the 40
seat classroom and walls in the courtyard between the Commons and
Dupont.
Chiller Plant
- Mechanical piping and electrical services are being installed.
The second chiller will be delivered in the next two weeks.

- Rough-in of mechanical and electrical services is in progress
in the penthouse and on the second floor. The exterior concrete
block back-up walls are being erected. The schist stone veneer
has started on the south end of the Chemistry wing. Granite panel
installation will start on the east wall next week. Layout for
the interior partitions has started. The four air handlers for
the penthouse will be delivered next week.
SITEWORK:
- The chilled water piping installation is complete.
- Two additional trenches are being cut on the North Quad to
complete sanitary and data line tie-ins outside the construction
fence. The work area is enclosed in orange snow fence.
- The electric site duct bank was completed and the electric
power cables will be pulled from the transformer into the Cornell
addition mechanical room during this period.
PEDESTRIAN / VEHICULAR ACCESS:

- There will be intermittent traffic blockages on the service
drive behind Dupont Building beginning in the next two weeks while
underground utilities are connected to the Chiller Plant.

on-going. Expect closures of the service drive alongside the
Chemistry building while the granite panels are being installed.
Traffic will be re-routed through the Rugby parking lot.
- Parking along Whittier Place is prohibited during the hours of
7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
- There is continuing pressure on parking. Barclay White will
be reorganizing their operation over the next few weeks to free up
a total of 22-23 spaces in the Dupont lot, which should help
alleviate the problem.
NOISE, VIBRATION, DUST, ODORS
- There will be some noise from delivery trucks, cranes and saws
throughout this period. The noise is not expected to be disruptive
to nearby buildings.
- Several major deliveries are expected in the next two weeks,
including the exhaust fan for the Commons smoke exhaust system,
four air handlers for the Chemistry penthouse, and the second
chiller for the chiller plant. These deliveries to generate dust
on-site.
