WORK AREAS:
DupontResearch
Annex
·
The placement of temporary partitions at the
exterior walls of Rooms 192, 193A, 193B, 195, 240 and 242 will begin
during the week of 9/17 (in Room 195) and move throughout the other
rooms over the next 2 ¸ months. Facilities
is working with the affected faculty to develop a detailed
schedule.
Dupont--Temporary North
Entrance
· The work at this area is
complete. Please do not
chain bicycles to the railing as they will block the ramp access. A bike rack will be installed
shortly.
Dupont--Lecture Hall
· The finish on the exterior wall of the Physics
wing will be completed by 9/10.
Dupont--Math Wing
· The
remaining Math corridor exterior wall finish will be completed by
9/10.
Dupont Physics Offices and Temporary
Restrooms
· The temporary restrooms are substantially
complete and in service. Temporary
toilet partitions have been installed and will be replaced when the
permanent partitions are delivered in late September.
Signage will be installed in the main corridor to direct
people to the restrooms.
Rugby
Field
· The rugby field parking lot
is paved and open for use by faculty, staff, and visitors. Please note the striped
pedestrian pathways in the lot. There
is a connector between the new rugby field lot and the existing
Dupont lot that allows vehicular traffic to continue behind
Dupont. The existing road alongside the Research Annex has been
demolished and the installation of underground utilities has started. A new pedestrian path will be
installed alongside the new road later this fall.
· Stockpiling of topsoil and fill is ongoing. Construction of the swale is
continuing.
North Quad
· Installation of the construction fence on the
North Quad is complete. Opaque slats have been installed in the
fence. Additional fencing has been installed to expand and
fully enclose the worksite. Note the pathways marked with
signs and arrows painted on the ground that lead from Beardsley
around to the north entrance to Dupont.
Cornell Library
· The new rear entrance to the library is open. The platform to the stairs
leading from the rear of Cornell to the west end of Dupont is open. The temporary platforms at
both Dupont and Cornell will be replaced in September with more
permanent structures. The switch will be timed to
occur during hours of minimal use.
· Structural steel was installed in the second
floor of Cornell to allow the removal of the canopy. The
reconstruction of the canopy has started will be complete by
9/25.
· Removal of the roof shingles
over the canopy was completed. The material was
asbestos-containing, so the decision was made to remove all of the
shingles in this phase rather than wait to remove the balance of the
shingles the next phase. New shingles will be installed to
serve until the rest of the roof is removed later in the project.
UTILITY SHUTDOWNS:
· There will be an interruption to the water
service in Dupont during the next three weeks, to tie-in a new
service.
· There will be an electrical service shut-down in Dupont during the next three weeks, to tie-in a new service.
There will be a disruption in the sanitary lab waste from the
Dupont Research wing during the next three weeks, to tie in a new
manhole.
PEDESTRIAN / VEHICULAR ACCESS:
There will be
disruptions to traffic flow on the service road north of Dupont
during the next four weeks while utilities are placed underground.
A minimum of one lane will be open at all times.
Please contact Facilities to coordinate any critical
deliveries or services to ensure the road will be accessible.

Gates will be installed across Whittier Place
just past the Rugby field parking lot.
The gates will be open during the day to allow construction
traffic to access the site. The
gates will be closed at night to prevent any vehicles from
inadvertently entering the site.
·
Parking along Whittier Place is prohibited
during the hours of 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Faculty
and staff were advised that parking is at their own risk. The purple
permit parking signs on Whittier Place have been removed and No
Parking signs are being installed.
· The stair tower exit door at the northwest
corner of the Dupont Research Annex has been limited to emergency
exit only, due to construction activities outside. Signs have been
posted at all doors in the stair tower.
· The stair tower exit on the west side of
Dupont is open.
· Parking at the Hicks lot has been restored.
The construction fencing has been reduced to allow the balance of the
work to continue.
