UTILITY SHUTDOWNS:
- There will be a short shut-down of the air conditioning system
in the Cornell Addition next week. Building occupants will be
notified in advance of the date and time. There have been
requests for shutdown of other existing systems in Dupont and the
Research Annex. Details are being worked out, and notice will be
given through Facilities.
WORK AREAS:
Cornell Library
- There is no work scheduled in the Cornell Library during this
period.
Cornell Addition (a.k.a. Biology/ Commons Wing)
- Metal cladding on the Cornell roof will continue during the
next two weeks. Handrail installation will be completed in the
Commons. The Coffee Bar equipment installation is nearly
complete.
Chiller Plant
- The acoustical roof screen installation will be completed
during this period.
Chemistry/Astronomy Wing
- Lab casework and fumehood mechanical and electrical
connections are continuing on all floors of the Astronomy wing.
Walls are being painted on the Astronomy 2nd and 1st floor areas.
Curtainwall installation will be completed during this period.
Flooring is nearly completed in the Chemistry 2nd floor and is
continuing on the 1st floor. Ceiling tiles are being placed in
the Chemistry 2nd floor labs.
Martin Building
- The architectural concrete columns at the bridge will be
placed during this period. There will be some noise associated
with the soil backfill in the area between Martin and Cornell
around the bridge footings and piers. The installation of the
fire shutters in the windows of the north wall of Martin will be
completed during this period. Demolition of Room 101 and the
Kirby Lecture Hall will continue during this period.
Existing Dupont Research Annex
- Erection of the new stairs has started and will continue
through this period.
Existing Dupont Physics Wing
- Demolition and abatement work are underway in the Physics
wing.
SITEWORK:
- The infiltration cistern installation is nearly complete. The
vault is being backfilled.
- Placement of the bluestone paving in front of the Commons will
get started during this period.
PEDESTRIAN / VEHICULAR ACCESS:
- The service drive along the east face of the Chemistry
Building will be subject to occasional lane restrictions as
material deliveries are off-loaded.
- Parking along Whittier Place is prohibited during the hours of
7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
- Work on the bridge that will connect Martin Building to the
Cornell Addition is underway and will continue through the end of
August. The path at grade between Martin and Cornell is closed.
Access to Cornell Library is through the new entrance at the
intersection of the Cornell Addition and the Commons. Directional
signs have been posted.
- Demolition work inside Martin Building and Dupont Physics Wing
is underway. There will be dust and noise associated with this
work. Please also be aware of workers traveling through corridors
with trash carts.
NOISE, VIBRATION, DUST, ODORS
- There may be some construction related noise, dust and
vibration during the demolition of rooms 101 and Kirby Lecture
Hall in Martin Building and throughout the Dupont Physics
Wing.
- Earthmoving operations in the lawn area may produce dust when
the ground dries out.
- There will be some noise from delivery trucks, cranes and saws
throughout this period. These activities may be disruptive to
nearby buildings.
