Historical Evolution of the Design
- Preliminary
Designs - a starting point for how the science
departments, labs, and classrooms could be accommodated
- Second-Round
Designs - presented by the Design Team as a
refinement of the Preliminary Designs
- Third-Round
Designs - presented by the Design Team as a further
refinement of Designs X and Y.
- Fourth-Round
Designs - In its meeting of December 16, 1999, the
Science Project Committee agreed to recommend Design X, with
modifications, to the architects for further refinement and
schematic design. In its meeting of February 29, 2000, The
Committee heard ideas from the Design Team about possible
variations of Design X that would reduce costs and increase
efficiency, while retaining essential features.
- Fifth-Round
Designs - Choosing DesignX-var2 as a starting
point, the Design Team presented interior layout plans and site
rendering details on March 21, 2000.
- Sixth-Round
Designs - further changes to the design, as well as
more detailed site planning, were presented on April 11, 2000.
Buildings are shown with schematic window treatments only; future
updates will include more detail refinements.
- Seventh-Round
Designs - version of the project at the end of the
schematic design period, as presented May 2, 2000.
