Arts Performances - Part One
Swarthmore College celebrated the inauguration of Valerie Smith during two days of performances and visual art. Readings, dance, theater, music, and visual art by students, faculty, staff, and alumni demonstrate the centrality of arts to a scholarly community. Valerie Smith's enthusiastic embrace of the arts community during her inauguration affirms Swarthmore's vibrant cultural life.
On Friday, Oct. 2, an evening of arts performances began with an introduction by Maurice Eldridge '61, special assistant for College and community relations. Assistant Dean & Director of the Black Cultural Center Dion Lewis served as the master of ceremonies for the first part of the celebration.
